Retirement Plan Design

A competitive retirement plan offering is essential to recruiting and retaining high caliber employees. This begins with a purposeful plan design. We help you choose plan features that help to improve plan costs and participation, benefiting both your employees and your company’s bottom line.

Investment Selection

Oversight of plan investments is one of a retirement plan sponsor’s most important responsibilities. We assist in identifying investment options and periodically reviewing these investments relative to their peers. Our investment process emphasizes simplicity, transparency, and low costs.

Participant Engagement

Employees can become overwhelmed or confused by choices related to retirement planning, which may have a negative impact on plan participation. We engage with your employees as soon as they become eligible to participate in your plan, helping them understand the value of the benefit you are offering and assisting them in the enrollment process. On an ongoing basis, we help you design and deliver a participant education program that is tailored to your employees needs and interests. This program can include both group and individual meeting, either in-person or virtually. The objective of our participant engagement efforts is to make your retirement plan understandable and accessible to employees and to give them the resources they need to make well-informed decisions.

Fiduciary Support

We help you understand and comply with your fiduciary responsibilities as a plan sponsor. This includes keeping you up to date on regulatory changes and helping you document a prudent investment process. We are also able to act in an ERISA 3(21) Investment Advice fiduciary capacity if desired.

Matt Bral, Tony Niedert, and Conor Boffeli provide a variety of services to retirement plan sponsors through their registrations with Principal. While they may act as a 3(21) fiduciary, helping a plan sponsor meet their obligations, they do not act with discretion. They do not act as 3(16), 3(28) or in other ERISA fiduciary capacities.
