Tony Niedert, RICP®

Managing Director 

Tony's passion for the financial markets started at age 12 when he began buying stocks and mutual funds with the proceeds from summer employment. The majority of Tony's personal and professional life has been in the state of Iowa. He attended Dowling Catholic High School in West Des Moines and the University of Iowa. Post graduation, Tony followed his childhood dream to work on the business management side of the entertainment industry in Beverly Hills, California. Tony specifically worked with comedy writers and performers. He left California in 2007 to join the Principal Financial Group and get back to his Midwest roots. Tony is a 2nd generation financial professional who followed in the footsteps and industry guidance of his father, Mike Niedert.


Tony holds the following registrations: Series 7, 66 and 24. His focus is on providing wealth management resources for business owners, executives, and medical professionals. Tony's passion lies in creating financial awareness and providing a VIP experience in helping individuals and businesses customize a financial plan based upon their objectives and needs. He serves clients in 16 different states with a focus on surrounding midwestern cities.


Tony is currently a founding board member of the charity P4C, which provides fundraising efforts benefiting children's charities in Des Moines. He is also an active member of the Iowa Association of Business and Industry (ABI), the Architects Association (AIA), and the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA). Tony is a 7-time qualifier of the Million Dollar Roundtable recognized by NAIFA.


Tony currently resides in West Des Moines with wife, Janet, and their two sons, Vincent and Nash. He is member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in West Des Moines.


Matthew G. Bral, CFA

Managing Director 

Growing up in the small Iowa town of Manilla, Matt learned the Midwestern values of persistence, integrity, and humility early in life. He carried these values with him to Drake University in Des Moines, where he graduated with honors from the College of Business and Public Administration majoring in Finance and Information Systems.

Matt began his financial services career with an investment bank in Chicago, but eventually returned to his Iowa roots to become an Investment Analyst at Salomon Smith Barney in Des Moines, the firm at which he interned while at Drake. After several years as an analyst, Matt became a Financial Advisor with Smith Barney and joined a team which managed over $500 million for institutions and affluent families.

In 2007, Matt earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation. The CFA® Charter is awarded to financial professionals who have mastered an extensive body of investment knowledge by passing 18 hours of comprehensive examinations over at least three years. Charterholders also make an annual commitment to uphold and abide by a rigorous professional code of conduct.

In 2010, Matt joined Principal®. He focuses on serving the complex investment and wealth management needs of business owners, corporate executives, and medical professionals.

Away from work Matt serves on the Board of Directors of the CFA Society of Iowa. He and his wife Erica reside in Waukee with their children Avery and Miles.

Conor Boffeli, CFP®, ChFC®

Financial Advisor

Born and raised in West Des Moines, Conor has deep roots within the community and is passionate about helping Des Moines grow. A Valley High School alum, Conor went on to The University of Iowa Tippie School of Business where he earned a BBA in Entrepreneurial Management. While at Iowa, he was a 4 year letter-winner on the football team, a 16 game starter, and academic all-conference. Upon graduation from the University of Iowa, Conor pursued his childhood dream of playing in the NFL and was signed as an undrafted free agent with Minnesota Vikings in 2014. After playing for the Vikings, Texans, Bears, and Browns, he returned home to West Des Moines to pursue his second passion, comprehensive financial planning.

Conor joined Bral | Niedert in August 2019 as a Financial Advisor. He focuses on comprehensive financial planning and wealth management resources for professional athletes, business owners, executives, medical professionals, and business professionals. Prior to this, he was with McGill Junge Wealth Management in Urbandale, IA where he worked in a variety of roles including: client relationship management, financial plan construction, qualified plan operations, investment strategy, insurance strategy, and comprehensive financial and retirement planning.

Conor holds his FINRA Series 7 and 63 securities registrations, as well as, the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER mark and Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®) designation, which are completed by extensive testing over a period of three years.

Conor and his wife, Jessie, live in West Des Moines with their golden retriever, Cal, and are expecting their child in November. Conor is involved on the board for Courage League Sports, the Polk County I-club, and is heavily involved with the United Way of Central Iowa. He participated on the Essential Needs Cabinet and LINC (Lead, Impact, Network, Change) an under 30 young professional group.


Kerry Gehrls

Director of Operations 

Born and raised in Iowa City, IA, Kerry has spent the majority of her life an Iowa Resident.  She graduated from Tippie College of Business at The University of Iowa with a major in both Marketing and Business Management.  

Kerry spent 7 years in the Office Furniture Industry.  She began her career as a Business Development Manager for HON company, based in New York City supporting their largest independent dealer.  In 2013 she moved back to Iowa to pursue an Account Manager role with Storey Kenworthy, a family owned contract furniture dealership in Des Moines.    

In 2016, Kerry joined Bral | Niedert where she manages all operational duties for the firm.  She strives to provide the ultimate customer experience for those she encounters.  

Kerry and her husband Donald reside in Waukee with their daughter, Brooklyn. 


Kay Mickelson, CPA


Kay grew up in the small town of Lake View in northwest Iowa, attended Iowa State University for her undergraduate degree and then Drake University for her master's degree. Her background is in accounting and finance as she earned her CPA while working in public accounting for a Big-4 accounting firm before transitioning into private accounting where she worked as a senior accountant. Kay then taught accounting and finance at the collegiate level before discovering her passion as a financial professional, joining the Bral | Niedert team in 2016.

Kay holds the following registrations: Series 7, Series 66 and the CPA.

Kay resides in Waukee with her husband, Trevor, and their son, Jalen.
